Can you believe that we’re packing again! In just a few hours, we’ll continue our safari, headed for a couple of days at Mala Mala camp. Then we’ll be back at work with our diamond cutters.
Here are a few photos from today’s safari by boat and jeep. The smallest elephant that you see is just 5-7 days old. While mom and aunties enjoyed an afternoon dip, baby struggled to work her trunk. It just didn’t want to go to her mouth! Time after time, she would give up and plunge her whole head into the river and emerge, looking confused. It takes three weeks before a baby elephant can use her trunk for drinking and eating. She’ll get it soon, we’re sure.
The gorgeous colorful bird is a lilac-breasted roller, Zambia’s national bird. He posed quite graciously for us along the river.
Ngikhathele (I’m tired).
